You are probably reading this because you just tapped the Start Fast button and received an error like this:
"The time setting on your phone is not set to Automatic. We cannot start a fast because the start time will be wrong."
Do not worry - there should be an easy fix. Your phone is probably showing the wrong time (and trying to set the wrong start time for your fast) because of a setting on your phone that does not allow it to automatically get the time from the Internet.
To find out if this is the problem:
Simply tap the link below to see what the current Internet Time is and compare that to the time shown on your phone or mobile device.
If these two values do not match, then your phone has been hard-set to a specific time or time zone - rather than unleashing the power built into your phone which can make sure you always have the up-to-the-second correct date and time.
To fix this problem on an iOS device:
- From your home screen, navigate to Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap Date & Time.
- Make sure that the option Set Automatically is turned on.
- Tap Settings to open the Settings menu.
- Tap Date & Time.
- Tap Automatic.
Once your phone has been set to automatically get the time from the Internet, you should be able Start a Fast without a problem!
So why don’t we allow you to start a fast in the future? It basically comes down to human error. We have found that more often than not when users do this they don’t actually start their fast at the time specified. This results in inaccurate data, which doesn’t help anybody.
